Retirement to 'Blow Your Mind' For Immediate Release HONOLULU, HAWAII - Bernard von NotHaus, the notorious monetary architect of the Liberty Dollar says, "now is the time to get high and talk to God" at his church that gives new meaning to the expression "holy smoke." Recently von NotHaus founded the Free Marijuana Church that uses a chemical in marijuana for his religious practice. He offers high-grade marijuana to Church members so they can "tune-in" to their higher consciousness. What a "heady" idea! Church service consists of members simply stepping into the "High Room" for one toke of marijuana and retiring to the Meditation Room in serene bliss. Von NotHaus said those who have tried the Church praise the concept of simply getting "high" and tuning in to the God within their own minds. But is this new 'Church of Higher Consciousness' legal? Stressing he is not a dope dealer, von NotHaus gives marijuana away and insists that is legal, quoting the First Amendment and court decisions regarding the Native American Church that uses peyote as its sacrament. "It is high time for a new spirituality." von NotHaus said. He points out that recently Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine in Baltimore conducted a study on the psychological effects of psilocybin that has been used for centuries for religious purposes. Of the 36 volunteers, 67% rated their psilocybin experience as being among the five most spiritually significant experiences of their lives, 64% said the experience increased well-being or life satisfaction, and 58% reported a "complete mystical experience." Using drugs for religious, spiritual or mystical experience is not new, said von NotHaus. "History is full of mystics and visionaries who have used all kinds of drugs, yoga, meditation, fasting, self-flagellation and other methods to take themselves beyond the mundane daily consciousness," he said. Von NotHaus said he has been using marijuana for more than 40 years and has kept a journal of his sacramental marijuana usage for the past 12 years. He sounds like a modern-day Martin Luther who is well prepared to challenge the religious landscape. He credits his friend and mentor, Dr. Timothy Leary, legendary "High Priest of LSD," with blazing the chemical trail to God. No doubt about it. The Free Marijuana Church is a "mind blowing" religious concept that will probably blow a lot of minds as it is in Hawaii - home of Maui Wowie.
